Made of used clothes, suitcases and fitted with speakers, Chinese installation artist Yin Xiuzhen creates ‘portable cities’. These objects themselves become nomadic in our world of constant travel. Each suitcase is accompanied by a soundtrack of that particular city. If you look closer each suitcase has a hole through which you can see an actual map of the created city. An incredibly detailed work of which a selection can currently be viewed at the Museum of Contemporary art of Chicago (MCA). These pieces are part of the architecture-inspired exhibit, Skyscraper: Art and Architecture Against Gravity.
